EIC Accelerator 2022

For almost 10 years, the European Commission has been supporting the development and the growth of innovative SMEs through dedicated programs: the Horizon 2020 SME Scheme (2014-2020) and, since 2021, the EIC (European Innovation Council).

With its three grant schemes, EIC Pathfinder / EIC Transition / EIC Accelerator, the EC supports the deployment of disruptive innovations, from the R&D phase to market launch. Through this support, the EC aims to develop European solutions to major challenges, such as industrial competitiveness and digital and environmental transitions.

No fewer than 13 Aerospace Valley members have been awarded grants under the aegis of these demanding, prestigious schemes. In chronological order of the grants endowed: REUNIWATT, VESO CONCEPT, MAPAERO, EXOTRAIL, ELIXIR AIRCRAFT, NIMESIS, VOLTAERO, X-SUN, LIMATECH, SHARE MY SPACE.

Hereafter are testimonials from the three latest winners: INFINITE ORBITS, SAKOWIN and VORTEX IO.

SAKOWIN : SOUTH BEACH Project

Project cost : 10,3 M€

Project duration : 33 months

Financing scheme : EIC Accelerator 2022

Project description :

Sakowin is an eco-conscious Deeptech company founded in 2017, manufacturing equipment that produces decarbonized hydrogen through methane plasmalysis, supported by the European Innovation Council. Sakowin’s technology is CO2 negative or neutral. It uses 5 times less electricity than electrolysis to produce the same quantity of hydrogen at a competitive cost. Sakowin’s equipment is compact, modular and stackable. It can be integrated into existing gas infrastructures, for on-site production, on-demand, with a capacity from 200kg H2/day to several tons of H2/day. Solid carbon coproduction and the use of biomethane make Sakowin a model of energy efficiency, circularity, and sustainability.

Testimony :

“Applying to the EIC helped us to structure our business and benefit from highly effective financial and business development support

Lydia Altes, Project Manager Officer Marketing, SAKOWIN
