Clean Aviation announces its Call 4 for Proposals
Deadline : 19th may 2026
Clean Aviation is pleased to announce the launch of its Call 4 for Proposals,
This call will provide up to €329.5 million in EU funding, with an estimated €824 million of total research effort to support disruptive projects aimed at decarbonising aviation, as well as fostering EU competitiveness and industrial leadership.
The topics open to large-scale projects cover the following areas:
Ultra-efficient short- to medium-range (SMR) aircraft architectures: system platforms optimised for energy efficiency, advanced aerodynamic elements (rear fuselage, tail), hybrid-electric propulsion architectures.
Ultra-efficient regional aircraft (REG) : architectures: optimisation of structure, propulsion and onboard systems to reduce energy consumption and emissions.
Hydrogen-powered aircraft (HPA): fuel cell propulsion, integrated hydrogen storage and distribution systems on aircraft, low NOₓ emission hydrogen combustion turbines.
Please note that projects addressing these SMR, REG and HPA topics must allocate at least 15% of the requested grant to SMEs or academics.
Fast Track Activities : projects for SMEs and academics
€40 million will be allocated to seven Fast Track Activities topics for projects that must be coordinated by an SME, RTO or university:
- Demonstration of low power Ice Protection System technology
- Demonstration of cabin acoustic optimization technology
- Advanced noise-reducing technologies for propulsion systems of next generation Ultra-efficient SMR aircraft
- Key Technologies for Loads Control Lidar for Ultra-efficient SMR aircraft
- Cryo-cooled power electronics for a fully electric hydrogen powered aircraft
- Superconducting motor windings for a fully electric hydrogen fuel cell powered aircraft
- Innovative lightweight and reliable liquid hydrogen tank
