Launch of the European project AgroSpace
The AgroSpace project was officially launched on July 2nd in Barcelona, alongside the New Space Economy Congress 2025. This three-year project is coordinated by the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) and funded under the second call for projects of the INTERREG Sudoe programme. It brings together 12 partners from France, Spain and Portugal to promote the use of space technologies in agriculture as a tool for innovation and resilience in the face of climate change.
AgroSpace enables innovative collaboration between the space and agriculture sectors, leading to the development of a cross-sector innovation strategy based on three pillars: research, policy and market development.
Additionally, three pilot actions will be carried out as part of the project. The first will facilitate links between space and agriculture stakeholders, the second will improve financial compensation processes for farmers in the event of climate hazards, and the third will enable more efficient resource management in viticulture.
Finally, training and awareness-raising activities will promote the adoption of space technologies by agricultural stakeholders and facilitate the transfer of identified solutions to other European territories.
Within the consortium, Aerospace Valley will mobilise the space ecosystem to identify innovative solutions to solve agricultural challenges. In particular, the cluster will be responsible for organising a call for solutions aimed at SMEs, to connect them with agricultural stakeholders seeking solutions.
