Defence Innovation Cluster: IDEA3

Based in the Occitanie region of France, and based at the DGA/Aerospace Technology Center in Balma, the IDEA3 defense technical innovation cluster aims to capture an innovation based on a need expressed by IDEA3 member armed forces, which will be formalized in a Call for Expressions of Interest issued by the Aerospace Valley cluster. IDEA3 is also in a position to detect an innovation that meets a need of the Ministry of the Armed Forces but not expressed by the forces or the DGA via a process known as open innovation.

It will be able to benefit from a rich ecosystem in the aeronautical field, and in particular in that of aeromobility, while remaining open to partnerships with players based in other regions of France.

The IDEA3 strategic committee is co-chaired by the director of the DGA Techniques Aérospatiales test and expertise center, the deputy head of the French army's plans and programs staff, and the director general of the Institut Supérieur de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace. Its steering committee includes a representative from each founding member. IDEA3 is part of the Ministry of Defence's overall effort to support innovation, coordinated by the Defence Innovation Agency in close collaboration with the DGA.
