Aerospace Valley is a non-profit association, created on July 13, 2005 to develop the competitiveness of the aeronautics, space and embedded systems cluster of Midi-Pyrenees & Aquitaine at the national, European and international level. The French government classified Aerospace Valley as a world competitiveness cluster on July 12, 2005.
With over 550 members, including 270 SMEs, the cluster brings together companies, research centers, education and training establishments and institutions related to the sector in both regions.
The Aerospace Valley association consists of 7 collegial boards representing:
- Large corporations,
- SMEs,
- Training centers
- Research centers
- Economic development organizations
- Local government authorities
- Professional organizations and associated partners
- A General Assembly, made up of all of the members of the association
- A Board of Directors of 37 members, all collegial boards are represented. The General Assembly elects the Board of Directors by simple majority for a term of three years
- A Labeling Committee composed of 25 members drawn from the first four collegial boards. It gives the cluster’s certification label to projects it considers relevant and consistent with the cluster’s roadmap. These projects are then presented to the financing committee.
- An Administrative Bureau of 6 members, elected by the Board of Directors for a term of three years
- An Executive Committee which brings together members of the Administrative Bureau, association directors, coordinators of the strategic business sectors and transversal fields, representatives of training, research and economic development organizations. The Executive Committee offers proposals to the Board of Directors for the definition and implementation of the cluster’s strategy.
